MUSEUM-CAN FRAMIS
At the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, the Poblenou district was a heavy industry, factory zone, set in the outskirts of the city. During the XXth century, the district was known as "The Catalan Manchester" due to its huge growth and reliance of the city on it. Can Framis was one of the most important Catalan textile factories. The old factory covered an area as large as four Eixample quarters.
During the last decade, the neighbourhood has undergone an urban transformation which has endangered most of it's industrial heritage. The factories have been replaced by light industry and facilities of the services sector. According to the new concept plan of the city, the neighbourhood has changed it's identity and it's name for a more trendy one, "22@."
For example, only a chimney and two of the most relevant warehouses remain of the historic Can Framis.
